Easter Crafts

If you’re looking for something to do with your kids this Easter, why not try some craft activities? There are plenty of places in Devon where you can make Easter crafts together.

  • Royal Albert Memorial Museum: The museum in Exeter has a wide range of activities available for children, including making historical jewelery and puppets.
  • Seaton wetlands is running a family themed craft day on the 5th April 2023. It’s £5 per child (under 2s free) and sessions run from 10am til 12pm.

Easter Bonnet Parade

Brixham’s Castle Green is the perfect place to enjoy the Easter Bonnet Parade, which takes place on Good Friday.

The parade starts at 12:00pm and there are lots of activities for children to enjoy before it begins. There will be face painting, a bouncy castle and much more!

If you’re visiting Brixham during Easter holidays then why not take part in this traditional event? You can also win prizes such as chocolate eggs or even money if your bonnet is chosen as best-dressed!

Easter Steam Train Rides

If you’re looking for something a little more traditional, then why not try out an Easter steam train ride? The South Devon Railway operates two trips on Saturday 3 April and Sunday 4 April.

The journey takes you from Exeter St Davids station up to Buckfastleigh, where there are plenty of activities for kids including egg hunts and face painting. It’s also possible to book tickets online in advance so that you don’t have to queue at the station – just remember that these sell out quickly.

Easter Food and Drink Festivals

If you’re looking for a food-focused holiday, then Devon is the place to be. The Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink is one of the best in the country, with over 50 stalls selling local produce and artisan products.

It’s not just about food though – there are also plenty of activities for kids at this festival too. You can try making your own Easter egg or even go on an egg hunt around the city centre (with chocolate prizes).

If you’re planning on visiting Plymouth during Easter break, then why not check out the Barbican Centre. They have lots going on throughout April including craft workshops and storytelling sessions aimed at children aged 3-5 years old.

Easter Fun at Pennywell Farm

Pennywell Farm has a whole host of Easter activities for you to enjoy, including egg collecting and decorating. You can also get involved with farmyard activities such as feeding the animals, cuddling a pig, milking cows and making butter.

If you’re feeling brave, you can even have an animal encounter.

Easter Gardens

If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids on Easter holiday, why not head out into the countryside? There are plenty of gorgeous gardens to explore and enjoy.

The RHS Garden Rosemoor is open from 1 April until 30 September, and features over 5,000 varieties of roses across its 35 acres. There’s also a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea throughout the summer months (10am-5pm).

Killerton House and Garden is another great option if you want something more family-friendly; it’s open daily from 10am until 4pm.

The National Trust’s Greenway offers beautiful views across Dartmoor National Park as well as historic buildings like Haytor Quarry tramway station which dates back over 200 years.
